A Sweet Moment Between Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula at WTA Finals
The WTA Finals has brought together the world’s eight best women’s singles players competing for the prestigious Billie Jean King Trophy and a share of the record $15.5 million prize pool. Throughout the competition, the WTA has been sharing behind-the-scenes moments that reveal the genuine bonds between competitors who also happen to be fierce rivals on the court.
One of the strongest friendships on display this year is between American players Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. Despite their competitive focus, they have maintained a close bond throughout the tournament.
In a recent Instagram reel shared by WTA, Gauff, Pegula, and Madison Keys can be seen getting ready for the WTA Finals photoshoot, where the fifth seed seems unsure whether she’s wearing her dress properly or backwards. Her designer leans in to check on her, but Gauff, who was standing significantly far away from her, took a glance and, within a second, answered, “No.”
This had Keys and Pegula laughing as it showed how well Gauff knows Pegula, even better than her designer. Gauff tried explaining herself, saying, “No, because the dress does not fit her, and then, the ruffles.” To add even more humor to the situation, she said, “But Jess knows me, it’s fine. I wouldn’t do this with another girl,” sarcastically pointing towards their close friendship and loyalty towards each other.
