Coco Gauff Reacts to Jannik Sinner Winning in Miami and Completing Sunshine Double

At the 2026 Miami Open, Sinner was seeded second and began his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. He won his opening match against Damir Džumhur (6-3, 6-3) and then eliminated Corentin Moutet (6-1, 6-4) and Alex Michelsen (7-5, 7-6(4)) in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals, the Italian triumphed over Frances Tiafoe (6-2, 6-2) and secured his spot in the final by defeating Alexander Zverev (6-3, 7-6(4)) in the semifinals. In the championship match, Sinner defeated Jiří Lehečka (6-4, 6-4) to win the 2026 Miami Open, claiming his seventh Masters 1000 title and also completing the Sunshine Double.

Remarkably, Sinner did not drop a single set throughout the tournament, making him the first man to achieve the Sunshine Double without losing a set.

Following his title win at the Sunshine State, Sinner took to social media and shared a series of photos of himself with his team posing with the trophy. He also posted a video of his team dousing him with champagne in the locker room after the win.

“This means a lot to me 🫶🏻 🏆 Grazie!! ❤️ ❤️ @miamiopen,” Sinner captioned his Instagram post.

In addition to Sinner, other players expected to compete in the ATP Masters 1000 clay-court tournament in Monaco include Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Zverev, Alex de Minaur, and Taylor Fritz, among others.

Sinner last participated in the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2024, where he defeated Sebastian Korda, Jan-Lennard Struff, and Holger Rune, before losing to the eventual champion Tsitsipas in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Gauff will next compete in the 2026 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, scheduled for April 11 to April 19, 2026. The matches will be played on the indoor clay courts at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, Germany.

Last year, the two-time singles Grand Slam champion won her opening match against lucky loser Ella Seidel, but fell to fifth seed Jasmine Paolini in the quarterfinals.
