Stephens battled her way into the main draw of the French Open after successfully navigating three qualifying rounds. She locked horns with Sára Bejlek in her opening match, with the Czech dominating the encounter to seal a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The American quickly moved on from the defeat, joining TNT Sports’ panel alongside Caroline Wozniacki, Christopher Eubanks, John Isner, and Sam Querrey as an analyst.

Coco Gauff Tells Sloane Stephens About Her ‘Mini Car Accident’ at the French Open
After kicking off her campaign with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Taylor Townsend, Gauff joined Stephens, Eubanks, and Querrey on the TNT Sports panel. During her interview, the world No. 4 opened up about the bizarre car accident she was involved in on her way to Stade Roland Garros.
“We kind of got into a mini car accident on my way to the site today. So, there’s like this pole thing, and it’s supposed to go down, and the police told him (the driver) to go, and the pole was still there, so we ran into it,” Gauff said.
Despite spilling her juice and being forced to take a taxi because the car was no longer drivable, the 22-year-old expressed optimism that the accident was a “good omen.”
“You felt a little impact; I spilled my juice all over the car. And I was like, ‘We can keep going.’ Then I walk out of the car, and the car is not drivable. So we end up taking a taxi to Jean Bouin, and then we took the tournament car to the tournament. I feel like it’s a good omen, maybe,” she added.
Up next, Coco Gauff will lock horns with Mayar Sherif in the second round. The American holds a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head, having secured a 6-2, 6-2 win in their only previous meeting at the 2023 Cincinnati Open.
Meanwhile, Eva Lys was ousted from the clay-court Major after No. 18 seed Sorana Cîrstea cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory in their second-round clash.
