Coco Gauff has recently revealed her family’s dynamics and competitiveness, highlighting that her younger brother is the most emotionally invested and fiercely competitive member of the family. The World No. 3 is continuing her streak of success at the Australian Open, as she has advanced to the third round after defeating Kamilla Rakhimova and Olga Danilović.
Coco Gauff Reveals Her Family’s Competitive Streak With Her Younger Brother Taking the Top Spot
After her impressive buildup in the fourth edition of the United Cup, Gauff has entered the first Grand Slam of the season. She has advanced past Russian-Uzbekistani in the first round with a final score of 6-2, 6-3, and then the Serbian star, who had defeated legend Venus Williams in the first round, with a final score of 6-2, 6-2.
During her post-game on-court interview, Gauff discussed her performance and other topics, and among the questions, she also revealed who the most competitive family member was, as she won a card game but lost a mini golf match to her dad.
She expressed, “Yeah, yesterday we did cards, and I won. But I did lose to my dad in mini golf. He won like $50, so that was good. But honestly, the most competitive person in my family has to be my youngest brother. He’s had some meltdowns with us. And we’re 10 years apart, so I don’t do him any favours. I treat him like he’s my age, because he has to learn, grow up. So I think Cameron is the most competitive, and then probably me.”
To which her dad, through his Instagram story, added, “keep it up.”

Gauff, who has two brothers, Codey and Cameron, light-heartedly mentioned the youngest sibling as the most competitive and then herself. Apart from herself, Codey, born on September 21, 2007, is pursuing a career in baseball. Whereas Cameron, born on June 5, 2013, is pursuing his sports journey with football and also plays tennis.

Gauff’s parents, Candi and Corey, both hail from a sports background. Her mother played on the track and field team at Florida State University, and her 1991 heptathlon performance is considered one of the best in the program’s history. Her father played basketball at Georgia State University.
Coming on to her on-court action, Gauff, in her third round, is set to clash against fellow American and former World No. 47 Hailey Baptiste. As per PFSN’s exclusive interactive simulator, Gauff has a 90% chance to win the game.
