World No. 12 and three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud has reportedly taken a significant personal step away from the spotlight, secretly marrying his longtime partner, Maria Galligani, in a private ceremony in Oslo.
Known for keeping his personal life firmly out of public view, Ruud is said to have formalized his relationship at Oslo City Hall in December 2025, with no public announcement or fanfare.
A Closer Look at Casper Ruud and Maria Galligani’s Steady Partnership Through Years on Tour
Ruud and Galligani are believed to have started dating around 2018, well before he became a fixture in Grand Slam semifinals and finals. As Ruud progressed from a promising clay-court specialist to one of the most consistent players in men’s tennis, Galligani became a familiar presence in his player box at major tournaments.
Despite frequent travel across Europe, North America, and Asia, the couple maintained a stable base in Norway, a grounding factor Ruud has previously credited as essential during the physical grind and mental pressure of the tour.
According to reports from the Norwegian outlet Se og Hør, the ceremony was small and strictly private, attended by only a few close family members. The report was later confirmed by Ruud’s manager and aunt, Tina Falster, who stated that the couple is formally married but plans to hold a larger wedding celebration at a later date.
The timing comes after a series of personal milestones. In Nov. 2024, Ruud publicly announced the couple’s engagement, sharing the news with fans while keeping details minimal. In Sept. 2025, the pair revealed they were expecting their first child.

Galligani, who holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Denmark and has professional experience in the sports nutrition space, has consistently chosen to keep her own career and public presence separate from Ruud’s tennis fame.
What Lies Ahead for Ruud at the Start of the 2026 Season?
Ruud will open his 2026 season at the United Cup, leading Norway in the mixed-team event held from Jan. 2-11, 2026, across Perth and Sydney, Australia. Norway has been placed in Group D, with all of its ties scheduled to take place in Sydney at Ken Rosewall Arena. The group also includes the host nation, Australia, and Czechia, making it a demanding round-robin assignment.
Norway will open their group clash against Australia with Malene Helgø facing Maya Joint in the opening women’s singles rubber. Ruud will then lead the Norwegian challenge in the men’s singles, highlighted by a marquee showdown with Australia’s Alex de Minaur.
The tie is set to conclude with a doubles contest, where Ulrikke Eikeri and Ruud will go up against Storm Hunter and John-Patrick Smith.
