Ruud’s season came to an end at the Paris Masters, where he faced a tough second-round loss, 6-3, 7-5, to German Daniel Altmaier on October 29. Following this defeat, Ruud’s ranking dropped to World No. 10, and his chances of making it to the ATP Finals in Turin were also over, as he stood 11th in the Race to Turin standings with 2,835 points.
Following his Paris campaign, Ruud decided to take a vacation with his fiancée, Galligani. The tennis star shared an Instagram post showing him relaxing in an infinity pool looking over the ocean, with the caption “Lazy Sunday.” American tennis player Reilly Opelka commented on the post, writing, “#Maldives”
Galligani posted multiple photos and videos from their tropical vacation on her Instagram story. In one underwater shot featuring a sea turtle, she gave an adorable pregnancy update, writing, “The best way to enter third trimester” with emojis including a sea turtle, baby, and heart.
The couple shared more exciting news in September 2025 when they announced they were expecting their first child. Ruud posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram showing him with his hand on Maria’s baby bump, along with their dog.
The second image showed their dog sitting on an ultrasound photo with two small pink boots next to it. “The team is growing. See you next year, babygirl,” Ruud wrote. Tennis stars, including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Carlos Alcaraz, all left congratulatory messages in the comments.

Ruud and Galligani have been together since 2018. The couple first went public with their relationship in November that year when Ruud posted photos from their trips to London and Paris on Instagram. Both are from Norway and currently live together in Oslo. In November 2024, Ruud announced their engagement through an Instagram post featuring photos of the proposal taken on the beach. He wrote “Can’t wait to marry you” with a ring and heart emoji, marking a special moment for the couple after six years together. Ruud later said that proposing was even more nerve-wracking than playing in Grand Slam finals.
