Carlos Alcaraz Spotted on Practice Court As Gears Up To Resume Tennis Journey After Cincinnati Arrival

Carlos Alcaraz returns to Cincinnati Open practice courts after withdrawing from Toronto Masters to recover from Wimbledon final loss to Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz has returned to training after arriving in Cincinnati for the 2025 Cincinnati Open. The Spanish star was spotted on the practice courts at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, marking his first appearance on hard courts since his withdrawal from the National Bank Open.

He has been working with fellow top players, including Daniil Medvedev, in joint practice sessions to prepare for the Masters 1000 event. After taking nearly a month off following his Wimbledon final loss to Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz appears focused and determined to make a strong comeback in Cincinnati.

Carlos Alcaraz Back on Tennis Court After Strategic Break

Alcaraz has returned to the Cincinnati Open practice facilities after a strategic break following his demanding summer schedule. His arrival in Cincinnati marks the end of nearly a month away from competitive tennis, during which he prioritized physical and mental recovery.

The break came after Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the National Bank Open, where he cited the need for rest following consecutive weeks of competition without adequate recovery time. In his announcement, Alcaraz explained he had “small muscle issues” and needed to “recover physically and mentally for what comes next.”

This decision followed his runner-up finish at Wimbledon 2025, where he lost to Sinner in the final on Jul. 13. The Wimbledon loss ended his streak of 24 consecutive victories and his attempt at a third consecutive title at the All England Club. His withdrawal from Toronto was part of a broader trend of top players skipping the Canadian tournament, with Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Jack Draper also pulling out due to various reasons.

Alcaraz’s Season Performance and Cincinnati Open History

Alcaraz enters the Cincinnati Open with an impressive 2025 season record, having achieved remarkable success across multiple surfaces and tournaments. The Spanish star boasts a 48-6 win-loss record for the season, representing an outstanding 88.9% win rate. His 2025 campaign has been highlighted by five ATP titles, including major victories at the French Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Italian Open, Queen’s Club Championships, and Rotterdam Open.

However, the Cincinnati Open has presented unique challenges for Alcaraz in recent years. His overall record at the tournament is 8-4, with notable struggles in certain editions.

In 2024, he suffered one of his most frustrating defeats, losing to Gael Monfils in the second round. That match saw Alcaraz break his racket multiple times in a rare display of frustration, later calling it “the worst match that I’ve ever played in my career.”

The 2023 edition proved more successful as he reached the final, though he ultimately lost to Novak Djokovic in a three-set thriller. Despite past setbacks in Cincinnati, Alcaraz remains one of the top contenders for the 2025 title, with his impressive season form positioning him well for a strong performance.
