Carlos Alcaraz Posts Full-Intensity Training as Defending Cincinnati and US Open Champion Eyes Return

Carlos Alcaraz is back hitting full-power forehands ahead of defending back-to-back hard-court titles following a four-month wrist injury.

The tennis world can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After months of prolonged absence from the ATP Tour, Carlos Alcaraz is set for his return to the court. Gearing up for the North American hard-court swing, the Spaniard recently took to Instagram to share a highly anticipated practice video, proving he is back to his usual intensity by repeatedly hitting with the right forehand at full power.

Carlos Alcaraz’s Full-Intensity Training Turns Heads Before Cincinnati and US Open

Sidelined since April after suffering a right wrist injury during the Barcelona Open, Alcaraz had to take a disappointing hiatus from the tour. He had to miss critical tournaments on the calendar, including Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and three Masters 1000 events: the Madrid Open, the Italian Open in Rome, and the Canadian Open in Montreal. This caused his ranking to fall to World No. 3, allowing Alexander Zverev to sit at the No. 2 spot.

However, it looks like Alcaraz kept trusting the process. Just an hour ago, the 23-year-old posted a video on his Instagram account where he practices hitting several forehands smoothly and confidently. As the caption, he simply put, “⌛️…” It’s almost time.

In June as well, Alcaraz had posted an update on his recovery and training. In the clip, the Spanish star was seen hitting forehand shots with his left hand rather than his dominant right.

The timing of his recovery could not be more crucial. Alcaraz enters the North American swing carrying immense pressure as the defending champion at both the Cincinnati Open and the US Open.

His official return to competition is set for August 11 in Cincinnati, the venue where he claimed the title in 2025 against Jannik Sinner, 5-0, who retired due to illness. The Masters event will serve as a vital launching pad to rebuild match rhythm before he seeks his third US Open trophy at Flushing Meadows.

Beyond the summer hard-court swing, his newly confirmed schedule shows a lot of confidence in his long-term health. Following the US Open (August 23 – September 13), he is slated to represent Team Europe at the Laver Cup, joining teammates like Zverev and Casper Ruud. Then, the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament will follow in October in Saudi Arabia, where he will play alongside Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur.
