Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz has recently faced demeaning comments from individuals as he was entering his hotel. The World No. 2 has arrived in Turin, Italy, where the prestigious 2025 Nitto ATP Finals will be held from Nov. 9 to 16, 2025, at the Inalpi, the largest indoor sporting arena in the country.
How Did Carlos Alcaraz Dominate the 2025 Season?
Carlos Alcaraz has qualified for the ATP Finals four times, delivering incredible performances throughout his current season. He clinched the prestigious US Open and French Open titles after defeating his rival, World No.1 Jannik Sinner, in the final rounds of both tournaments.
Beyond the Grand Slams, he also secured a victory at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, also known as the Rotterdam Open, by defeating Alex de Minaur in the final. Additionally, Alcaraz won the Monte-Carlo Masters, the Italian Open, the HSBC Championships, and the Cincinnati Masters after Sinner had to retire due to health issues in the final match of each event.
Alcaraz also cemented his prominence during the Asian swing, winning the Japan Open after overcoming World No. 4, Taylor Fritz, in the final round. These notable performances helped him become the first player to earn a spot in the ATP Finals. However, the star’s arrival in Italy drew negative attention from individuals, who shared derogatory comments.
This is not his first qualification for the year-end championship. Alcaraz also qualified in 2022, but an injury unfortunately prevented him from playing. He made his debut at the 2023 Finals, where he reached the semifinal stage, and he also participated in last year’s edition.
While revealing his goal for the 2025 season, the El Palmar, Murcia, native added, “Ending as the No. 1, it’s been an important goal for me since half the year, to be honest. Because at the beginning I didn’t think about it.”
He continued, “I’m just really motivated to perform well, to play my best tennis, trying to get some wins here, trying to qualify to the semi-finals. I think doing good in this tournament, winning matches here, it comes together with ending the year as No. 1. It’s kind of the same motivation, they stick together.”
To kick off the tournament, Alcaraz will face Alex de Minaur in his first group stage match. Following that, he will compete against Novak Djokovic, and for his third match, he is set to play against Taylor Fritz.
