Alcaraz has three brothers, Alvaro, Sergio, and Jaime. The oldest of them all, Alvaro, has been a regular presence in the stands, cheering his brother on. However, after the Spaniard’s much-talked-about split with Juan Carlo Ferrero, Alvaro made a move up from the stands to the box, taking a more active role in Alcaraz’s coaching setup. The eldest brother’s role is that of a hitting partner, and sometimes also contributes with tactical inputs.
Alcaraz himself been appreciative of his brother’s efforts, stating that having his brother by his side helped him both personally and professionally. He said, “My brother is someone very important on both a personal and professional level. He brings me many positive things that I need to perform better on the court and in tournaments”.
Alcaraz’s other brothers, Sergio and Jaime, are both involved in the sport of tennis. While the former is active in some local events in Spain, the youngest of them all, Jaime, is making noise as a young player to watch out for.
Following his brother’s footsteps, he has won the under-12 event on the Rafael Nadal Tour, which Alcaraz won himself during his early years. He also won the doubles title at the Antonio Hernandez Cup and represented his nation at the ITF Junior World Championships.
Speaking about his youngest sibling, Alcaraz revealed that he hopes that the external noise does not overwhelm him. He said, “I worry that people might overwhelm him too much. I don’t like people pressuring him just because he’s my brother. He’s too young to be labeled as the ‘next Carlos Alcaraz.’
Alcaraz’s parents have also been instrumental in his life and career. His father, Carlos Alcaraz González was his first coach and helped him in the early stages of his career. He has been in the stands in Melbourne, cheering him on. Alcaraz’s mother, Virginia Garfia Escandón, has been another strong foundation in Alcaraz’s career. Back in 2024, he stated that his family helped him stay grounded and keep his focus on the sport.
“When I finish a tournament, it doesn’t matter if I win or not, I just want to get home to be with my family. I live with my mum and dad, my older brother and two younger brothers. To them I am not a big tennis star, just a normal guy.” said Alcaraz.
