Jannik Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill and Boris Becker recently backed Ons Jabeur’s firm stance on women being deprived of prime slots at Roland Garros. According to both, Jabeur’s statement should motivate the French Tennis Federation to sustain equality in scheduling at Roland Garros.
Known for his successful mentorship portfolio, Darren Cahill has coached WTA star Simona Halep among the many big names, while Boris Becker remains a notable figure for the time he spent with the ATP legend Novak Djokovic.
Jannik Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill suggests major change to the French Open authorities after Ons Jabeur’s prompt
Ons Jabeur recently highlighted the lack of acknowledgement for women’s sports. According to the Tunisian player, women have always been told to play with strength and are compared to men when they do. While Jabeur appreciated the wide recognition of the glorious moments in men’s tennis but strictly despised the ignorance towards the feminine side of the sport.
Among the hundreds of people who stepped forward to support the plea was Jannik Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill. Resharing Jabeur’s quotes on the social media platform X, the Australian coach offered a game-changing advice to the French tennis authorities for the upliftment of women.
“Well said, Ons! The FFT can start by scheduling some women’s matches in the night session in Chatrier. Growth forms from the bottom upwards. Respect breeds from the top downwards,” he wrote.

This came after players, including Ons Jabeur and Coco Gauff, criticized the French Open for not scheduling women’s matches during prime-time night sessions. They felt this showed unfair treatment, as all night matches featured men.
French Open Director Denies Acceptance of the Plea From Ons Jabeur and Coco Gauff
Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur’s frustrated response against the unfair scheduling for women’s matches at the ongoing French Open made no changes to the director’s mindset. As the controversy became a headline, Amélie Mauresmo, the French Open director, stepped forward to deny the credibility of these claims.
“The funny thing is that it’s the same questions, year after year. It has never been that the girls are not worthy to play at night. It’s never been this, and I will not accept that you carry this message,” she said.
In a presser on Friday, Mauresmo made it clear that no participant directly raised a complaint to her regarding the issues. As the controversy continues to receive words from renowned tennis entities, it remains to be seen if a satisfactory change is implemented.
