What is Luke and Daria Saville’s Love Story?

Luke and Daria’s relationship began in 2009 when they first met at the Junior Davis Cup and Fed Cup Finals in Mexico. Luke was just 15 years old and had recently won junior titles at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. Daria was building her reputation after winning the 2010 US Open juniors and Youth Olympic gold medal.

Their friendship blossomed into romance around 2011, coinciding with Daria’s rise in professional tennis. The relationship influenced major life decisions, particularly Daria’s choice to switch from representing Russia to Australia in 2015. This decision proved pivotal as she reached her career-high ranking of world No. 20 in 2017.

The couple got engaged in December 2018 after years of supporting each other through the ups and downs of their professional tennis careers. They married on December 4, 2021, in Melbourne’s Albert Park, with Daria taking Luke’s surname and officially becoming Daria Saville.

Luke recently retired from professional tennis after the 2025 Australian Open, having achieved a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 23 in 2021. He reached the Australian Open doubles final in 2020 with Max Purcell.

Meanwhile, Daria has faced significant injury challenges, including an ACL tear in 2022 that kept her away from the tour for nearly 10 months. She is currently 160th in the WTA singles rankings.

Earlier this year, the 31-year-old opened up about her fertility journey, revealing she had been freezing her eggs due to her diagnosis with polycystic ovary syndrome. She documented the process on social media, explaining how the condition can affect fertility and the steps she took to preserve her family planning options while continuing her tennis career.
