Canadian star Bianca Andreescu was recently seen attending the clash between the defending national champions, the Florida Gators, and the Texas Longhorns at the Moody Center, Austin, Texas. The world No. 164 has wrapped up her WTA 250 tournament, the ATX Open, with a Round of 32 loss to Hungarian talent, former world No. 79, Dalma Gálfi.

Andreescu entered the outdoor hard court tournament, which is held at the Westwood Country Club, as a wildcard, as this marked the first WTA tournament of her 2026 season. Before the ATX Open, whose defending champion is Jessica Pegula, who has withdrawn from the tournament, Andreescu competed in the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour.
In the ITF Tour, she won titles at Bradenton and Vero Beach, with the Japan Open being the last tournament of her 2025 season, where she was defeated in the round of 32 by Victoria Mboko, and in the doubles advanced with Mboko to the quarterfinal round, falling to Shuko Aoyama and Cristina Bucșa.
After wrapping up her ATX tournament journey, the 2019 women’s singles champion at the US Open shared glimpses from the Moody Center as she enjoyed the fierce battle between Florida and Texas, which the former won 84-71.

The Mississauga, Ontario, native had commenced her last year after three months due to health challenges, including an injury, and had undergone emergency surgery to remove her appendix. She was able to compete in April at the Rouen Open, and during her appearance on the ‘Tennis Insider Club‘ podcast with Caroline Garcia and Borja Duran last year, the 25-year-old shared her optimistic thoughts on her upcoming season.
She mentioned, “I’ve been working really hard and I’m just really excited to see what I can do with this new Bianca, let’s say. I say that every time I come back, but it’s true. I’m so different than when I was, even just a month ago. It’s like this continuous evolving process. Obviously it’s like you go up a bit, but you go down a bit, but then you go up a lot and then it’s like, yeah.”
Andreescu continued, “But I feel like a lot of people stop or give up when they go down, even just a little bit. But I feel like that’s when the most success happens. Or the most fulfillment. So, I’m kind of like in this wave, but a little bit down and now I’m just kind of waiting for that little spike. Having faith is number one.”
Apart from Andreescu, talents including Iva Jovic, Peyton Stearns, Kaja Juvan, Kimberly Birrell, and others are competing in the tournament at Austin.
