U.S. tennis star Ben Shelton, for the first time in his career, has surged into the top 10 of men’s tennis on the back of a string of consistent results across multiple surfaces.
Most recently, the hard-serving lefty made it to the semifinals of the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, Germany, where he went down in two tie-break sets to native Alexander Zverev.
Following the match, the American shot up two spots in the rankings to No. 10. Notably, Shelton’s ascent to the top 10 means that three Americans are now ranked within the elite club in men’s tennis for the first time since 2006.

Trinity Rodman, Shelton’s girlfriend, celebrated the moment through a post on her Instagram stories.
The 23-year-old Rodman, a member of the U.S. women’s soccer team and a player for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL, began dating Shelton earlier this year. Trinity is the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman.

The couple officially announced their relationship on Instagram in March, following playful social media exchanges. Notably, Trinity also supported Shelton at the recently held French Open, where he surpassed expectations to reach the quarterfinals.
“Will never be over this,” she captioned the post. “Proud of you.”

Emma Sheton, Ben’s older sister, who is also a tennis player, celebrated her brother’s achievements on social media with a few “mind blown” emojis. Ben and Emma often practice together.
Ben Shelton’s Consistency Has Been the Hallmark of His Season in 2025:
In 2025, Ben Shelton has enjoyed arguably the best season of his tennis career. He started the year strongly, making it to the semifinals of the Australian Open, where he was stopped by eventual champion Jannik. He enjoyed another strong showing at the Indian Wells Masters, making it to the quarterfinals.
Shelton, whose big serve and hard-hitting game is suited for hard courts and grass, also impressed during the European clay-court swing. At the BMW Open in Munich, he made it to the final, losing to Zverev.
He continued his impressive form into the quarterfinals of Roland-Garros, where he went up against a red-hot Carlos Alcaraz. Shelton went toe-to-toe with the Spaniard in a four-set contest that was decided by fine margins. Shelton’s red-hot form was again on display at the BOSS Open.
This week, Shelton will compete at the HSBC Open in London, facing Arthur Rinderknech for passage into the next round.
