American star Ben Shelton has recently shared his thoughts on his return to his prominent form and the significance of overcoming adversity. The World No. 7 is currently in action at the 2025 Rolex Paris Masters, where he has advanced to the quarterfinal stage and is set to face Jannik Sinner. Following his achievement, he has secured his spot at the 2025 ATP Finals.

What Has Ben Shelton Shared About His Return to His Previous Level After Injury Struggles?

The Atlanta, Georgia, native suffered a shoulder injury during his third round against Adrian Mannarino, subsequently ending his prestigious US Open tournament journey. After his US Open action, Shelton returned to the court with the 2025 Shanghai Masters.

In Shanghai, he faced defeat in the round of 64 from David Goffin. He then competed at the Swiss Indoors Basel tournament, where he defeated Kamil Majchrzak in the round of 32 and lost to Jaume Munar in the round of 16. In men’s doubles, he reached the semifinal with the former doubles World No. 1, Rohan Bopanna.

At the Paris Masters, he surpassed Flavio Cobolli in the round of 32 and then Andrey Rublev in the round of 16, signaling his return to his impressive form. During his recent interview on Tennis Channel, Shelton shared his views on his current performance level and the significance of his return from injury.

While considering his level, Shelton said, “I’m close, I’m close. I think that every match is different. I certainly had it today, and tomorrow is a completely different day. But I think the way that I competed and dealt with adversity, I think is one of the most important parts of coming back and being able to handle the negatives when things don’t go your way out on the court.”

He continued regarding his form and also pointed out the fluctuation a player faces in this sport, adding, “And that’s what I have seen kindly of slowly improve since I have come back and get back into form. And the tennis will be there some days, and some days it won’t. No one is perfect. This is not a sport where you can achieve perfection. But I think being able to handle the tough moments is the most important.”

At the 2025 ATP Finals, Shelton will be sharing the elite platform with Serbian legend Novak Djokovic, Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, fellow American Taylor Fritz, Alexander Zverev, and Alex de Minaur, with the remaining spot yet to be filled.

Nitto Denko Corporation, a Japanese company, will sponsor this year’s season-ending championship, which will take place from Nov. 9 to 16, 2025, in Turin, Italy.
