Shelton arrived in Stuttgart after a shock early exit at the French Open. The American has struggled for consistency so far this year, but fought his way through to the final at the Boss Open.
The big-serving American overcame Marcos Giron in the second round before seeing off the challenge of Sho in three sets in the quarterfinals. Shelton faced Lehečka in the semifinals and fired 21 aces en route to a grueling win that required three tie-breakers.
Going up against his compatriot Fritz in the final of the Boss Open, Shelton raised his performance levels and came up with an impressive performance to clinch his first-ever ATP Tour title on grass courts. The win will fill the 23-year-old with plenty of confidence as he looks to make a big splash at Wimbledon this year.
Following the conclusion of the Boss Open, the ATP Tour turns its focus to the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club and the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle. The build-up to the 2026 Wimbledon Championships continues with the grass-court season now underway in full swing.
