Ben Shelton and Flavio Cobolli Prize Money at 2026 BMW Open

The 2026 BMW Open featured a strong field and certainly lived up to the billing. There were several big upsets over the course of the week.

Alex Molčan sent third seed Alexander Bublik packing in the first round, while home favorite Alexander Zverev was beaten by Cobolli in the semifinals. João Fonseca showcased his clay-court skills once again as he made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Shelton.

Shelton was ultimately crowned the champion in Munich and will thus receive a large chunk of the tournament’s €2,561,110 (US$3,015,578) prize pool. As the winner of the ATP 500 tournament, Shelton will receive €478,935 (US$563,922). Cobolli will earn €257,705 (US$303,434) as the beaten finalist.

Molčan and Zverev, who were beaten in the semifinals, will each receive €137,340 (US$161,710) in prize money. Francisco Cerúndolo, Vít Kopřiva, Denis Shapovalov, and Fonseca will all get €70,165 (US$82,615) for making the quarterfinals at the BMW Open.

For his triumph in Munich, Shelton will also receive the BMW iX3. Voted as the “World Car of the Year,” the BMW iX3 is an all-electric SUV that costs starting from $60,000. Here is the car for the winning player in Munich.

Shelton will also receive 500 ranking points for winning the title in Munich. As the beaten finalist, Cobolli will receive 330 ranking points. Both beaten semifinalists will get 200 ranking points.

After losing to Zverev in the final at the BMW Open last year, Shelton finally managed to win the tournament this time around. He started his run in Munich with a hard-fought win over good friend Emilio Nava in the first round.

The American then overcame Alexander Blockx before ending Fonseca’s run in three sets in the quarterfinals. Shelton claimed a straightforward win over Molčan in the semifinals and then got the better of Cobolli to claim his fifth title on the ATP Tour and his second title on clay. This is also his second title of 2026 after his triumph at the Dallas Open in February.
