Ben Shelton and Denis Shapovalov React As Canada’s Gabriel Diallo Clinches First-Ever ATP Title at Libéma Open

Ben Shelton, Zizou Bergs, Denis Shapovalov and others joined hands to congratulate Gabriel Diallo on his debut ATP title win at the Libema Open.

Canadian ATP pro Gabriel Diallo recently received congratulatory messages from Ben Shelton, Zizou Bergs, and Denis Shapovalov. The 23-year-old won his first-ever ATP title at the Libema Open by securing a commendable victory over Bergs.

As he took the title home, members of the tennis community couldn’t back down from appreciating his dominant levels at the ATP 250 event.

Ben Shelton, Zizou Bergs, and Denis Shapovalov Congratulate Gabriel Diallo on His Libema Open Win

Gabriel Diallo won his first-ever ATP Tour title in s-Hertogenbosch on June 15, 2025. The 23‑year‑old Canadian defeated his friend Zizou Bergs 7‑5, 7‑6(8) in a showdown that concluded in less than two hours. He saved three set points in the second‑set tiebreak before securing the win.

After his win, American ATP star Ben Shelton stepped forward to congratulate him on the commendable win. The 23-year-old shared a carousel of pictures from his victory celebration on Instagram.

“From VLY to this 🏆,” he captioned the post.

Among hundreds of followers who dropped adorable comments was Shelton himself. Expressing optimism about the young champ’s future, he wrote:

“Listen to Future=Dubs 👏.”

Despite the defeat, his final match rival Zizou Bergs also stepped forward to congratulate the Canadian player.

“Big time player❤️❤️,” he wrote.

His compatriot Denis Shapovalov also dropped a hyping message on Instagram. Sharing the victory post on his story, the 26-year-old used famous rapper Eminem’s lyrics to congratulate the young champ.

“Congrats @gabriel.diallo_ I think the real Slim Shady just stood up,” he wrote.

The recent win over Zizou Bergs made him only the fourth Canadian this century to win an ATP singles title.

Gabriel Diallo Sees the Recent Victory as a Childhood Dream Come True

After winning his first-ever ATP tour final, Diallo couldn’t back down from expressing his excitement. In a post-match interview, the Canadian mentioned how he had dreamt of this moment from his childhood days. He also explained how the victory that came after a final match defeat last year makes him even more joyful.

“Oh man, I don’t have the words. It’s something that you dream of for your whole life since you were a little kid, to get an ATP Tour title. The fact that I was able to do it here after losing a final last year, it just means the world to me. I’m very happy, not only for myself but for my whole team,” he said.

After the recent win, Diallo is now ready to compete at the upcoming HSBC Championships. He is scheduled to play against the British player Billy Harris on Tuesday, 17th June.
