Fans React to Ben Shelton, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Others’ Australian Open Draw

Alcaraz is the top seed at the Australian Open, followed by Sinner as the second seed, and Shelton is seeded eighth. The Spaniard will start his campaign against Adam Walton, while Sinner is set to face Hugo Gaston, and Shelton will compete against Ugo Humbert.

Sinner and Shelton can potentially meet in the quarterfinals, with the possibility of facing Djokovic afterward. Meanwhile, Alcaraz could encounter either de Minaur or Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals, with a possible semifinal matchup against Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, or Andrey Rublev.

In light of this, tennis fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the men’s singles draw for the 2026 Australian Open. One fan noted that Shelton’s draw appears to be “tough.”

“shelton nation, the road looks tough ahead, but i believe :)” a fan posted on Reddit.

Another fan described Sinner’s draw as challenging, mentioning that he needs to bring his “A-game” to defend his title.

“That path looks tough. He’ll need to bring his A-game for sure,” a fan wrote.

On the other hand, one fan remarked that Alcaraz’s draw seems relatively easy, suggesting that the World No. 1 could navigate the first four rounds with ease, conserving energy for the later stages of the tournament, similar to his strategy during the 2025 US Open, where he ultimately won.

“Cake walk draw in the first 4 rounds. He can converse his energy for the latter rounds just like last year’s US Open,” a fan posted.

Here are some other fan reactions:

“Poor Ben can’t escape jannik. Novaks quarter is kinda rough. There are a lot of good first round matches this year,” a fan wrote.

“Both Alcaraz and Novak got a pretty good draw. Not so good for Sinner and Zverev,” a fan posted.

“Is it just me or are we looking at Carlitos greatest opportunity to win his Career slam?” a fan wrote.

Last year at the Australian Open, Sinner defeated Zverev in the final to claim his second Melbourne Major title and third Grand Slam title overall. Meanwhile, Alcaraz reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Djokovic, while Shelton made it to the semifinals before losing to Sinner.
