Sabalenka vs. Rybakina Prediction

Given Rybakina’s convincing win in Cincinnati and how close her matches against Sabalenka have gone even when she lost, it would not be too farfetched to consider the Kazakh the favorite. However, Sabalenka has been in scintillating form and will no doubt make things difficult for her rival.

The Belarusian has won 61 out of 88 points (69.2%) on her first serve so far in Wuhan, serving 13 aces while producing five double-faults. Sabalenka’s serve, power hitting and mentality make her a menace for any opponent and if she is at her best, Rybakina will no doubt have her path cut out.

The Kazakh is among the finest servers on the WTA Tour and has won 54 out of 62 points (87.1%) on her first serve so far in Wuhan. serving 19 aces. She will look to dominate her service games and fetch as many free points as she can against Sabalenka. Rybakina also loves to play aggressively and will aim to put the World No. 1 on the backfoot from the very first point.

With both players having highly adventurous playing styles, it could come down to composure. While Rybakina has had more than her fair share of slip-ups so far this season, they have barely come against Sabalenka, not to forget the Kazakh has never lost to the Belarusian in straight sets. Hence, it will not be much of a surprise if the World No. 9 ends the World No. 1’s title defense in Wuhan.

Prediction: Rybakina to win in three sets.
