The WTA announced its 2025 player award winners, with Aryna Sabalenka claiming her second straight Player of the Year honor.

The WTA announced the winners of its annual awards during Award Week, honoring the finest achievements across professional women’s tennis in 2025. International media members voted for all award winners, recognizing outstanding performances both on and off the court throughout an exceptional season.

Aryna Sabalenka Is WTA Player of the Year

Aryna Sabalenka claimed the Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year, earning nearly 80% of the media vote. She became only the third player in the past 15 years to win the award more than once. Sabalenka’s 2025 season was exceptional, reaching nine finals and winning four titles while recording 63 match victories overall. The Belarusian star set a new WTA single-season prize money record with $15,008,519 in earnings. She maintained the PIF WTA World No. 1 ranking throughout the entire year, finishing as the top-ranked player for the second straight season.

Doubles Team of the Year

Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend won the Doubles Team of the Year award following their exceptional 2025 partnership. The pair claimed their second Grand Slam title together at the Australian Open and also won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. They reached an additional major final at the U.S. Open. Townsend made history by becoming the PIF WTA World No. 1 in doubles for the first time in her career, establishing herself as the first player to top the doubles rankings as a mother. Siniaková sits third all-time for weeks spent at the doubles World No. 1 with 174 weeks accumulated through Dec. 15.

Amanda Anisimova Is Most Improved Player of the Year

Amanda Anisimova earned the Most Improved Player award after a breakthrough 2025 season. She reached five finals throughout the year and won her first WTA 1000 titles at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open in Doha and the China Open in Beijing. Anisimova reached her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon and the second at the U.S. Open. She also made the final at the WTA 500 HSBC Championships in London, broke into the Top 10 in July, and qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time in her career.

Comeback Player of the Year

Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic took the Comeback Player of the Year award. She stepped away in September 2023 to have her daughter, Bella, who was born in April 2024, and returned to compete at the United Cup. Bencic impressed at the Australian Open with a Round of 16 run and won the Abu Dhabi title, defeating No. 1 seed Elena Rybakina in the semifinals before beating Ashlyn Krueger in the final. She reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time and finished the season by winning her tenth career title at the Tokyo Pan Pacific Open.

Newcomer of the Year

Victoria Mboko, 19, won the WTA Newcomer of the Year award. She started 2025 ranked outside the Top 300 and finished at No. 18. Mboko made her Tour debut at the Miami Open and played her first Grand Slams at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. She won her first title at the National Bank Open in Montreal, becoming the second youngest woman in the Open Era to defeat four Grand Slam champions at one tournament, and added another title at the Hong Kong Tennis Open.
