Andy Roddick Reveals His American Favorite for Wimbledon and It’s Not Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula or Emma Navarro

Andy Roddick snubbbed Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula when asked for his American favorite to win Wimbledon.

Andy Roddick made his pick for which American woman has the best chance of winning Wimbledon 2025. Passing over players like Coco Gauff, who recently won the French Open, and Jessica Pegula, Roddick named Madison Keys as his favorite among the American women’s singles players.

The 2003 US Open champion believes Pegula could make a deep run at the tournament but Keys’ grass court skills will be enough to outshine others at the All England Club. He also focused on the Australian Open champion’s recent breakthrough which helps her to stand out from other stars.

Andy Roddick Explains Why Madison Keys Is His Pick for Wimbledon 2025

During an interview with Tennis Channel, Andy Roddick explained that Madison Keys has the perfect game on the surface. He said:

“I like Madi Keys from the American side. I think she’s my favorite. I think she’s well versed on the grass, she’s had good results. She was heading towards a big result last year before she got hurt against Paolini.”

This was from her 2024 Wimbledon run, where she was leading 5-2 against Jasmine Paolini in the third set before a leg injury eventually forced her to retire at 5-5. She was just two points away from winning that fourth-round match.

In addition to this, Roddick focused on her recent form, stating, “Since then, obviously she’s won a slam. She’s going to be more comfortable in that scenario.”

As of now, Keys is sixth in the WTA rankings, having won 30 out of 39 matches so far in the 2025 season. The American won her maiden Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open and the Adelaide International.

A Look at Madison Keys’ Wimbledon Record

Madison Keys has a pretty decent singles record at Wimbledon, winning 25 out of 35 matches so far during her career, reaching two quarterfinals in 2015 and 2023. The American is yet to suffer an opening-round exit from 10 appearances so far at the grass-court Major.

Last year, Keys entered the tournament seeded 12th and booked her place in the fourth round after straight-set wins over Martina Trevisan, Wang Yafan and Marta Kostyuk. Here, she faced Jasmine Paolini and found herself a set down. The American bounced back to take the second set 7-6(6) and force the match into a decider.

Keys was serving for the match at 5-2 and got injured during this time. Thhis injury propelled her to retire from the match.
