How Did Andre Agassi’s Kids, Jaden and Jaz, Celebrate Team World’s Comeback?

The Laver Cup, co-founded by Roger Federer in 2017 and modeled after golf’s Ryder Cup, is a three-day tournament that pits six of Europe’s best players against six players from the rest of the world. The matches are scored under a unique scoring system: wins on Friday are worth one point, victories on Saturday are worth two, and Sunday triumphs carry three points. The first team to reach 13 points is declared the champion.

This year’s edition, staged from Sept. 19-21 at the Chase Center, home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, marked the tournament’s first-ever appearance on the U.S. West Coast. The eight-time Grand Slam champion Agassi is serving as Team World captain, squaring off against French legend Yannick Noah, who is leading Team Europe.

After Day 1, Team Europe held a 3-1 advantage. Casper Ruud opened with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Reilly Opelka, and Jakub Mensik edged Alex Michelsen 6-1, 6-7(3), [10-8] to give Europe a strong start. Team World responded through João Fonseca, who defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 6-3, before Carlos Alcaraz and Mensik teamed up to beat Taylor Fritz and Michelsen 7-6(7), 6-4 in doubles, restoring Europe’s two-point cushion.

On Day 2, with each match worth two points, Team World clawed back. Alex de Minaur produced a commanding performance to defeat Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4, drawing the overall score level at 3-3.

Jaden Agassi, the 24-year-old son of the eight-time Grand Slam singles champion and Steffi Graf, quickly marked the moment by sharing a score update graphic on his Instagram story.

Shortly after, Francisco Cerúndolo overcame Holger Rune 6-3, 7-6 (5), giving Team World a 5-3 lead heading into the evening session.

Jaz Agassi, Agassi’s 22-year-old daughter, amplified the excitement from courtside by recording the decisive point and posting it to her Instagram stories. Her clip captured the energy inside the Chase Center as Team World supporters erupted following Cerúndolo’s victory.

The day is not over yet, however, with two crucial clashes still to come: Fritz will face Alcaraz in singles, followed by a doubles showdown where De Minaur and Michelsen will take on Ruud and Rune. With those contests still on the line and Day 3 matches carrying three points each, the standings remain fluid as both sides battle to be the first to reach the magic number of 13 points.
