Team Europe might have missed out on the opportunity to earn a victory over Team World at the Laver Cup, but Carlos Alcaraz walked out of the arena with an unmatched achievement.
While addressing the crowd after Taylor Fritz propelled Team World to lift the trophy again, Andre Agassi extended a cheeky yet motivating statement for the Spaniard. Here’s how the ATP legend applauded Alcaraz’s rapidly growing Grand Slam portfolio.
Andre Agassi Extends a Lighthearted Suggestion for Carlos Alcaraz
Fans at the Chase Center, San Francisco, saw Team World defeat Team Europe 15-9 at the 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco under first-time captain Agassi. Key moments included Alex De Minaur’s clutch singles win to push the score to 12-6 and Taylor Fritz clinching the title with a straight-sets victory over Alexander Zverev.
Taking the stage after his Team’s notable win, Agassi took a moment to extend his best wishes to Team Europe, despite the heavy margin of defeat. However, besides addressing the whole team, Agassi also saved a statement for Alcaraz, applauding his rapidly growing Grand Slam portfolio, but in a cheeky way.
“It is such an honor to sit on the side of the court and watch you guys do what you do. I mean, it’s remarkable and I loved every second of it. And I wish you the brightest futures,” he said.
“I would go to battle with each and everyone of you, anywhere, anytime” 🥹❤️

Turning his head towards Alcaraz, the 55-year-old added:
“Carlos, don’t be so greedy with all the grand slams. I mean, share some with your brothers for god’s sake.”
Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the 2025 US Open final to claim his second US Open title and his sixth Grand Slam overall. The season also saw him lift the Roland Garros trophy once again, defeating Sinner in a tough five-set thriller.
Alcaraz Denies the Impact of His World No. 1 Position on the Laver Cup Defeat
Alcaraz returned to the top of the ATP rankings in 2025 for the first time since 2023, entering the Laver Cup as World No. 1. After his straight-sets loss to Taylor Fritz, he was asked whether being ranked number one played a role in his defeat.
Directly denying the impact of his World No.1 position, the 22-year-old said:
“Not really. Today I feel like I had to win the point, because the way that the day is going, with the two losses, I feel like I had to win my match. It was a little bit of extra pressure, because of the way that the day was going on, but it wasn’t because I’m the No. 1 in the world. I think the ranking is just a number. It shouldn’t give you the pressure that you have to win everything and every match.”
As the Laver Cup comes to an end, Alcaraz is expected to resume the season at the Japan Open. The Spaniard is matched against Sebastian Baez in the round of 32 matchup.
