Amanda Anisimova Enjoys Poolside Recovery With Sister Maria After Charleston Withdrawal

Amanda Anisimova enjoys poolside recovery with her sister Maria following her Charleston withdrawal to prepare for clay.

Amanda Anisimova was seen hitting the pool with her close ones after the American player finished her Sunshine Double campaigns in Indian Wells and Miami. She was with her sister, Maria, and both siblings were enjoying their time as the World No. 6 prepares for the clay season.

Amanda Anisimova Relaxes With Sister Following Sunshine Double

Anisimova shared some fun moments with her sister in the pool on her Instagram story. The American player was enjoying herself in the pool, wearing a stunning black bikini. She did not caption the post but used a “sun” emoji, signaling a great time under the sun.

Anisimova’s sister was a tennis player herself, who had a successful college career but could not progress to the professional tour due to injury. The two sisters share a very close bond, as Maria, being the older sister, had a guiding hand in the early parts of Anisimova’s career.

On the court, Anisimova has had a turbulent start to this season. While making some deep runs, the American player has yet to win a title this year. She had her maiden quarterfinal run at the Australian Open, but failed to get a breakthrough against her compatriot Jessica Pegula.

Her most disappointing result would have been an opening-round retirement in Doha against Karolina Pliskova. She was the defending champion, and an early exit saw her drop a lot of points.

Anisimova bounced back in Dubai, reaching the semifinals, where she once again lost to Pegula. The Sunshine Double saw her make fourth-round runs in both Indian Wells and Miami, where she sustained heavy losses against the likes of Victoria Mboko and Belinda Bencic. The American also made headlines after splitting with her coach, Hendrik Vleeshouwers.

Anisimova has already withdrawn from the clay event in Charleston, as she will probably look to make deep runs at the WTA 1000 events in Madrid and Rome, leading up to Roland Garros. Clay has not been a strong surface for Anisimova, as she has won only one title there, the 2019 Copa Colsanitas. The American player had her first milestone moment on the dirt as she reached the semifinals of the 2019 French Open as a teenager.

Expectations on Anisimova have risen since her last season, which saw her have a 47-18 win-loss record, including two marquee runner-up finishes at Wimbledon and at the US Open, where she lost to the likes of Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek and Aryna Sabalenka. The season saw her qualify for the WTA Finals for the first time in her career.
