Alexander Zverev made his feelings known on the growing rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The two players most recently faced off in the final of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, where Sinner won his first title at the London Major with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, securing his fourth Grand Slam title overall.
Alcaraz and Sinner have played against each other 13 times on the ATP Tour, with the Spaniard winning eight of those encounters. This year, they competed three times, all in finals: at the Italian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. Alcaraz emerged victorious in Rome and France, while the World No. 1 triumphed in London.
What Did Alexander Zverev Say About the Rivalry Between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner?
In a recent interview with Tennis365, Zverev praised both Alcaraz and Sinner, particularly the Spaniard, whom he referred to as the “star boy.”
Zverev mentioned that these two players are the ones all other players on the Tour are aiming to defeat. He also expressed that he intends to “spoil their party” in future matches.
“At the moment, Carlos is the kind of the star boy now. He just brings great energy to the court and along with Jannik, they are the players to beat. I just hope to spoil their party a little bit and I think I can do that,” Zverev said.
Zverev also remarked that Alcaraz is a “great” and “fun” person to be around. He mentioned that if the World No. 2 can avoid controversies in his career, he will be loved by many tennis fans.
“Carlos is a great guy. He is fun to be around and he always has a smile on his face. If he can avoid any controversies, he is going to be very, very loved by tennis fans,” he added.
Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev Is Next Expected To Compete at Canadian Open 2025
Following the conclusion of the grass-court season, Alcaraz, Sinner, and Zverev will begin their hard-court campaigns at the 2025 Canadian Open. The tournament will take place from Jul. 27 to Aug. 7, 2025, at the Sobeys Stadium in Toronto.

In 2023, Sinner clinched the ATP 1000 hard-court title. He was the seventh seed at the tournament and began his campaign by triumphing over compatriot Matteo Berrettini in his opening match, winning 6-4, 6-3. He advanced to the quarterfinals after his third-round opponent, Andy Murray, withdrew from the competition.
In the last eight, Sinner defeated Gaël Monfils with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 and then secured his place in the final by overcoming 12th seed Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals. In the championship match, he defeated Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-1 to win his first ATP 1000 title.
Alcaraz also recorded his best result at the Canadian Open in 2023. He was the top seed, and like Sinner, he also began his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. He defeated Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(3) and 15th seed Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(3) in the second and third rounds, respectively, before falling 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Paul in the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Zverev’s best result at the Canadian Open came in 2017 when he claimed the title. He was the fourth seed and he defeated Richard Gasquet in the opening round with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(3) and then overcame sixteenth seed Nick Kyrgios, winning 6-4, 6-3 in the second round.
In the quarterfinals, the German eliminated Kevin Anderson with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-4 and triumphed over wild card Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals, winning 6-4, 7-5. In the final, Zverev defeated second seed Roger Federer 6-3, 6-4 to win the title.
