Zverev vs Cobolli Head-to-Head Record
Zverev leads the head-to-head 2-1, having beaten Cobolli twice last year. However, the 23-year-old pulled off a stunning upset against the German in Munich earlier this month, gaining plenty of confidence from that 6-3, 6-3 win as he looks to continue his strong start to the clay-court swing.
A two-time champion in Madrid, Zverev enters this match with strong form, having made the semifinals at five of the last six tournaments he has competed in. Consequently, he will be determined to make the last four again in Madrid, even though he has had to go through some choppy waters to make it this far.
The German defeated Mariano Navone in three sets in his opener and was nearly taken to three sets by Terence Atmane in the third round. Nevertheless, he did well to battle his way past MenÅ¡Ãk in the last round and will hope to take some confidence from that win into this quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, after making the final in Munich, Cobolli started his campaign in Madrid with a hard-fought win over Camilo Ugo Carabelli. He then comfortably dispatched Adolfo Daniel Vallejo before overcoming Medvedev by firing 37 winners.
Zverev vs Cobolli Prediction and Pick
Zverev has been prone to making unforced errors and losing focus; however, he showed some steel with his serve in the last round. In addition, he cut down on his unforced errors (16) and had 24 winners against MenÅ¡Ãk.
For his part, Cobolli will take confidence from his win over Zverev in Munich as he aims to defeat the second seed once again. He looks very much at home on clay, with his sharp forehand and excellent movement making him a tough opponent for most players on the tour.
The key for Zverev will be to maintain his rhythm and not let Cobolli dictate the proceedings, as he did in their last meeting. However, the German has more top-level experience, and we are backing him to use that to his advantage and gain a measure of revenge against Cobolli.
The PFSN Tennis Simulator is giving Zverev a 73% chance of winning this quarterfinal.

Pick – Zverev in three sets.
