Alexander Zverev is playing at the BMW Open this week, and it seems he is embracing the home-soil advantage. The world No. 3 gave fans a wholesome, off-duty look when he was spotted alongside his five-year-old daughter at Bayern Munich’s Champions League soccer match.
Alexander Zverev Treats Daughter Mayla to Bayern-Real Madrid Clash
The highlight of Zverev’s week off the court was under the bright lights of the Allianz Arena. As a lifelong, deeply passionate supporter of FC Bayern Munich, the German made sure to share an unforgettable experience with his five-year-old daughter, Mayla, and his brother’s kids. After the match, he was seen walking through the stadium, holding his daughter’s hand.
They attended the much-anticipated second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal between Bayern and Real Madrid, the 15-time winners of the trophy. The match ended 4-3 in favor of the home side, and as a German sporting hero, Zverev took his family on an incredible behind-the-scenes locker-room tour.
The following day, during a post-match presser, Zverev shared the story. “Amazing for them to get the win at home, and I was there watching. It was very, very special,” Zverev said. “I took the kids down to the locker room after, and they were very nice to the kids, signing autographs.”
That was not all. Fans at the MTTC Iphitos tennis club watched as Zverev walked out to warm up for his doubles match, proudly sporting a bright red Bayern Munich jersey. Bayern players Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich were also in the stands to cheer for him. However, alongside his partner Marcelo Melo, he lost their doubles Round of 16 match, falling to the French duo Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.
Zverev Set to Face Francisco Cerundolo in the BMW Open Quarterfinal
In all four of the massive tournaments he has played this year (one Grand Slam and three Masters 1000s), Zverev fell short in the semifinals. At the Australian Open, it was Carlos Alcaraz who bested him, and at the Sunshine Double and the Monte-Carlo Masters, it was Jannik Sinner.

In Munich, where neither the world No. 1 nor No. 2 is playing, he’s looking to build momentum on the dirt ahead of Roland Garros. Zverev battled past Gabriel Diallo 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday to set a quarter-final clash on Friday against Francisco Cerundolo, who notably has a 3-0 head-to-head record against him on clay. As we’ve seen so far, hometown support can certainly fuel his run.
