Second-seeded Alexander Blockx will take on fifth-seeded Nicolai Budkov Kjaer in the semifinal of the Next Gen ATP Finals. Blockx has been in pristine form in Jeddah, winning all three of his matches in the group stage.
He started with a four-set win over Justin Engel, followed by a straight-set victory over Nishesh Basavareddy in the second match. The Belgian did not let his foot off the pedal in the final group game, winning 4-3 (4), 2-4, 4-2, 4-0 against Dino Prižmić.
Kjaer began his campaign at Jeddah with a couple of excellent performances, winning 4-1, 4-2, 1-4, 4-2 against Rafael Jodar and a 4-1, 3-4 (7), 4-2, 4-3 (7) win over Martin Landaluce. In his final match, the Norwegian faltered, losing 4-3 (2), 1-4, 2-4, 2-4 against top-seeded Learner Tien.

Blockx vs Kjaer Prediction
In his previous match against Prižmić, Blockx won 63 percent of the service points, which is not excellent but slightly above average. He conceded two service breaks in the match but was able to compensate with a strong performance on the return wing, winning 46 percent of the total return points. The Belgian created 12 break-point opportunities, converting four of those.
In his match against Tien, Kjaer won 65 percent of the service points and struggled with his second serve, winning only 38 percent of the points behind it. The Norwegian really struggled in the return games, winning only 28 percent of the return points, especially being unable to create any openings in his opponents’ second serve.
As far as records on indoor hard courts are concerned, Blockx has won three Challenger titles on the surface, including two this year in Portugal and Slovakia. He also won a couple of ITF titles on indoor hard courts back in 2023. Kjaer has been in great form this year, winning four Challenger titles, two of which have come on the indoor hard court.
Block is the upper seed and has not lost a match in Jeddah so far. Kjaer struggled with his return game against Tien in his last match and needs to improve on that wing to have a strong chance against someone like Blockx.
However, if the form of 2025 is anything to go by, it is the Norwegian who has had better showings and will have a slight edge in the upcoming match.
Pick– Kjaer to win in five sets
