Second seed Alexander Blockx will lock horns with eighth seed Justin Engel in the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah.

The second match of the opening day of the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2025 will feature Alexander Blockx and Justin Engel. Blockx only played eight matches on the ATP Tour, winning only two of those matches. However, the Belgian player fared well on the Challenger Tour, winning 29 out of 44 matches. He reached three Challenger finals, winning titles in Oeiras and Bratislava.

Meanwhile, like Blockx, Engel did not have much success on the ATP Tour, winning four of the nine matches he played. He had a 16-19 win-loss record on the Challenger Tour, winning the title at the Hamburg Challenger. The German player had an 11-3 record on the ITF Tour, winning an event in Cadolzburg.

Blockx has won 66 percent of his service points in 2025, along with a 36 percent win rate on the return wing. On serving, he won 73 percent of the first serve points, and on return, won 44 percent of the second-serve return points.

Meanwhile, Engel has 65 percent of the service points and 30 percent of the return points. However, he has played the pressure points better, having a 31 percent break point conversion compared to Blockx’s 22 percent, giving the edge to the German player in the upcoming match.
