Alex de Minaur’s fiancée, Katie Boulter, recently shared her thoughts after the former’s Australian Open title hopes got crushed in the quarterfinals by World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
In the first Grand Slam of the season, the homeland’s star, who was seeded sixth, delivered impressive performances after his run at the fourth edition of the United Cup with Team Australia.

De Minaur ended his Australian Open run with a quarterfinal defeat to the Spanish star, a repeat of his 2025 run at Melbourne Park, during which he had lost the quarterfinal round to the eventual champion, Jannik Sinner. In his 2026 season, he produced notable wins against Mackenzie McDonald, Hamad Medjedovic, World No. 34 Frances Tiafoe, and Alexander Bublik, the current World No. 10.
However, he couldn’t get past the elite star, Alcaraz, in the next round, subsequently losing in three sets with a final scoreline of 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 in two hours and 15 minutes at the Rod Laver Arena. His heartbreaking loss prompted the tournament’s response, as they shared his glimpses in an Instagram post, writing, “Australia is proud, @alexdeminaur 🇦🇺.”

Whereas Boulter, who got engaged to De Minaur in December 2024, shared her reaction on her Instagram story, writing, “🥺❤️ Proud isn’t a strong enough word.”
After concluding her 2025 season with the Hong Kong Open, Boulter returned with the ASB Classic, where she lost the round of 16 match to eventual champion Elina Svitolina, and ended her Australian Open run with a first-round loss to Belinda Bencic.

After bidding adieu to her Grand Slam action, the British star was seen supporting De Minaur’s title run as well. The couple plans to get married later this year, with De Minaur expressing his thoughts on the matter when he was asked, light-heartedly, during his interview with four-time major winner Jim Courier after his third-round match against Tiafoe.
De Minaur added, “Honestly, the fact that we’re both tennis players and we both have a busy schedule, we are doing as much as we can together. I’ve been involved so far with some of the decisions. I’m sure when it comes to the details of napkins and flowers and decoration purposes, that’s not my forte, I’ll leave that for Katie.”
De Minaur and Boutler, one of the power couples in the sport, met during the pandemic in 2020, began their fruitful journey, and had also played doubles at the Wimbledon Championships in 2023.
