Shocking Results Unfold at Wimbledon as Only 13 Out of 32 Seeded Players Sustain

Novak Djokovic recently secured his 99th victory at Wimbledon, defeating Dan Evans in three sets. While this re-established his position as a tough competitor, other seeded players had to walk out of the All England Club with unprecedented defeats.

Third seed Zverev suffered a shocking first-round exit from Wimbledon 2025 on Tuesday. The German star lost a long and hard-fought match to unseeded Arthur Rinderknech, who defeated him 6-7, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 4-6. Their battle on Centre Court was so long that it had to be paused overnight before finishing.

Another shocking result at Wimbledon 2025 included Jack Draper’s elimination after losing to Marin Cilic. Cilic won the match in two hours and 39 minutes with scores of 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Cameron Norrie, on the other hand, delivered one of the best performances of his career as he came from behind to defeat Frances Tiafoe. The former British No.1, who made the semifinals in 2022, won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.

The list doesn’t end just yet as other names, including Holger Rune, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger Aliassime and more had to halt their dreams to secure desired positions at the grass court major.

Jack Draper Admits to Having More Flaws in His Game Post Unexpected Defeat at Wimbledon

After his disappointing defeat against Marin Cilic, Jack Draper was forced to recount the mistakes he made during the second round match. In a post match interview, the 23-year-old admitted to the fact that there’s still more work needed in his game and therefore remembered the legendary player Andy Murray’s massive results in 2013.

“It makes me think that Andy’s achievement of what he did – winning here twice – [was] just unbelievable. It’s not the pressure. I wasn’t going out there thinking I was under so much pressure. You [journalists] mention it all the time. I just didn’t play good enough. I lost to a better player. That’s the main reason. I just was not able to find the level I wanted. I came up short,” he said.

After the recent win, Cilic has now booked a showdown against the Spanish player Jaume Munar in the third round scheduled for Saturday, Jul. 5.
