With Joe Burrow back in the mix, the Cincinnati Bengals are trying to make a push to the NFL playoffs. However, with a questionable defense, the hope must be that the offense can function at its best to carry them to a playoff berth.
As a result, a Week 14 clash against the Buffalo Bills was going to be a massive affair in deciding how things shape out for the franchise. However, things took a turn for the worse in the first half itself, when superstar wide receiver Tee Higgins went down and had to be taken off the field.
What Happened to Tee Higgins?
An exciting first half saw the Bengals take advantage of the Bills’ porous defense, putting up 21 points in a hurry, compared to just 11 for their opponents. However, the early lead came at a massive price.
Higgins, who was having an excellent game so far, with four receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown to his name, tried to make a catch falling out of bounds. While he was able to hold on to the ball on the sidelines, he fell hard on his head.
Unfortunately, he had to be taken off the field immediately for a concussion check, which marked the second time in three weeks that he had a major scare of the same type.
Fortunately, Higgins was cleared to return and was able to come back into the game. Unfortunately, the lingering concerns showed up again in the fourth quarter, as he was headed back to the tent as Cincinnati added another touchdown to the tally.
Fantasy Impact of Higgins’ Concussion
This is not good. Higgins just returned today after missing last week with a concussion. A second one in this sort of timeframe is highly likely to lead to an extended absence.
With Higgins out last week, Andrei Iosivas served as the WR2, but Mitch Tinsley, as the WR3, wound up earning more targets. Regardless, neither is a recommended start in fantasy. Iosivas could be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
While not having Higgins is a problem for Joe Burrow, he remains a mid QB1 because he still has Ja’Marr Chase. This is only a slight downgrade for Burrow, while Chase’s value remains the same.
