The relationship and subsequent engagement between pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL Pro Bowler Travis Kelce have been among the biggest stories over the last two seasons. Swift has been regularly spotted at Chiefs games, both at home and on the road. She’s been seen with the likes of her good friend and actress Blake Lively, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes, and Indiana Fever superstar and noted Chiefs fan Caitlin Clark, who has been dubbed ‘Taylor Swift 2.0’ by her head coach, Stephanie White.
Swift is usually not one to shy away from her fans and the public, but in the wake of recent developments, Swift and Kelce are taking a few extra precautions.
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Beef Up Security
Swift has recently had to deal with a stalker showing up at her house.
A 45-year-old man, Brian Jason Wagner, repeatedly showed up at Swift’s house, insisting she was the mother of his son. A Los Angeles judge granted a five-year restraining order against the man. Wagner must stay at least 100 yards from Swift, her residence, her vehicle, and her workplace. He also cannot contact Swift in any way and was forced to surrender any firearms, ammunition, or body armor he may own.
According to a report from USA Today, Swift claims “she lived with ‘a fear of imminent harm’ because of Wagner’s alleged visits and ‘concerning and threatening’ messages to her and her staff.”
According to a source, via the U.S. Sun, Swift and Kelce have hired two new experts to join their security team to ensure Swift is “100% safe and comfortable all the time.”
Swift and Kelce have committed an extra $2 million in security, bringing that total to $8 million. Swift has not been as prevalent at Chiefs games this season and has been using new security measures to access the stadium, including a screen, to reach her seats.
“The measures at Arrowhead Stadium are important for her,” the U.S. Sun’s source explained.
Swift has also been thrown off by recent violence at public events, including the killing of political podcaster Charlie Kirk.
“There is a concern about recent tensions, and Kirk’s murder didn’t ease that,” according to the source.
Being as famous as Swift obviously has its perks, but sadly, these issues come along with it.
“She knows she is always the center of attention and wants to avoid that if possible,” said the source.
Unfortunately, Swift and Kelce have to take these types of precautions, but if that’s what it takes to make Swift feel safe, it’s undoubtedly a good decision on the couple’s part.
