Taylen Green’s NFL Draft Potential
Taylen Green presents as one of the more compelling Day 3 developmental QB prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Green began his career at Boise State, redshirting in 2021 before becoming Hank Bachmeier’s backup to start 2022. When Bachmeier was injured early in the year, however, Green was elevated to the starting role. He proceeded to lead the Broncos to an 8-2 record, a Mountain West Championship appearance, and a Frisco Bowl victory — in which Green was named the game MVP — and Green also won Mountain West Freshman of the Year.
Green returned as the starter for Boise State in 2023, but the team regressed, and Green entered the transfer portal at the end of the season, choosing Arkansas as his transfer destination. In his first season at Arkansas, Green eclipsed 3,000 passing yards for the first time in his career, added over 600 yards and eight TDs on the ground, and helped lead Arkansas to a 7-6 record and a Liberty Bowl victory. He returned once again as a QB on the rise, and with the eyes of scouts — but also with things to prove — in 2025.
The 2025 campaign has been Green’s most efficient season yet, and on film, the 6’6″, 225-pound passer’s best traits are still wholly visible. He’s an effortless mover and a nimble creator with good arm elasticity and above-average arm strength, and at his best, his smooth creative feel and layering ability shows up as a major plus.
However, Green’s overall processing and progression work still remain inconsistent, and on true dropbacks, his rhythm and field vision falter far too often, with either missed reads or ill-advised risks as a result. Even with his raw talent as the biggest selling point, his arm and ease of velocity generation isn’t elite, either.
With Green set to turn 24 years old in October of his rookie year, there’s a chance he could be mostly set in his ways as an inconsistent processor over-reliant on his physical tools — but his ability to move the pocket, convert off-platform, and keep the offense humming in the short game could be enough to earn him an NFL backup opportunity, and from there, he could keep honing his game. That may be where he maxes out, which is why he’s a Day 3 pick at best on my board, but security at QB brings value of its own.

CFB Week 12 Update
Green was subpar in Arkansas’ Week 12 loss to the LSU Tigers. At the very least, his dynamic ability on the ground remained a constant, as he racked up 68 yards and a score as a ball carrier. Through the air, however, Green completed just 11 of 19 attempts for 165 yards, and threw two interceptions — one of which was a forced off-script pass into triple coverage by the boundary. After a relatively strong start to the year, Green has stagnated down the stretch, and his stock will likely settle in as a Day 3 prospect.
Where Is Green Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Green currently holds the No. 125 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 139.0 as of November 19 reflects that he is typically being selected in the middle rounds.
The gap between his rank and ADP indicates that while he’s highly regarded on our board, draft simulators are seeing him slide slightly, possibly due to team needs or positional value considerations.
