Taurean York’s NFL Draft Potential
Taurean York won’t be above Anthony Hill Jr. on many boards, but my scale gives York the edge in spite of his size deficiencies. At 5’10”, with likely sub-31″ arms, he won’t be every defensive coordinator’s preferred mold. But look past the size, and you’ll see: York already has good compact mass for his frame at almost 230 pounds, and he’s one of the best MIKE linebackers in the class.
He’s a two-time captain and an elite processor who can command his unit pre-snap and play with offensive protection looks, and he’s a fast-flowing support presence post-snap, who can erase running space with his lightning-quick burst and closing speed. On top of it all, he’s a fluid and instinctive coverage LB, and a sturdy tackler in space, in spite of his lacking length.
