Where Did Felton Land in Our Most Recent NFL Mock Draft?

In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings, Felton was the 36th overall pick to the New England Patriots near the top of the second round. Cummings had this to say about Felton’s potential fit in Foxboro, Mass.:

“At 6’2″, 188 pounds, Tai Felton has the speed to spread the field for Ja’Lynn Polk and others, but he also has the RAC fluidity to generate big gains on short completions.”

Felton’s Best Landing Spots in the NFL

While there is no shortage of talented wideouts in the NFL, nearly every team could use another weapon to make their offense that much more dangerous. These teams could serve as fits for Felton in the 2025 NFL Draft.

    Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are extremely dependent on CeeDee Lamb. While there’s nothing wrong with leaning on one of the game’s best slot receivers, the Cowboys could use a more balanced receiving corps entering 2025.

With Brandin Cooks seemingly unlikely to return as he hits free agency, Felton could be a worthwhile prospect to develop as a perimeter receiver if Dallas picks at the end of the first round or trades back into the second.

    Kansas City Chiefs

Every borderline first-round wide receiver prospect will get mocked for the Kansas City Chiefs at some point. The reason Felton could fit better than others is his route-running prowess, which could fit like a glove in Andy Reid’s West Coast offense and quickly garner the trust of Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs have gotten by with designer plays for Xavier Worthy, but Felton would represent a more steady down-to-down option who could more easily thrive within the natural flow of the offense. As Travis Kelce ages out, Mahomes will need more options he can call on to win quickly without requiring his improvisational mastery.

    Buffalo Bills

This season is a purported transition season for the Buffalo Bills, who faced significant cap woes entering 2024. One of the consequences of that is that Buffalo will need to rebuild its receiving corps next offseason through both the NFL Draft and free agency.

Felton would represent a far more versatile option than what the Bills currently roll out on the perimeter. As opposed to vertical-only options like Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Felton could run a more diverse route tree that complements what Khalil Shakir provides underneath. At the end of the first round, he would be a worthwhile option to reinforce Josh Allen’s supporting cast.

    Felton’s Scouting Report

Cummings had this to say about Felton when highlighting him among his biggest risers after Week 3:

“Every year, there’s at least one breakout prospect in the WR group. This year, it appears as though Maryland’s Tai Felton is that player.

“In Week 3, Felton became the first Maryland WR in school history to start the season with three straight 100-yard outings, racking up nine catches for 117 yards and a score against the Virginia Cavaliers. His production continues to pace the league, and his traits follow suit.

“At 6’2″, 186 pounds, Felton has eye-catching vertical speed and fluidity as a mover, traits that lend well both in the RAC phase and down the field as a seam stretcher. His tools, combined with his statistical output, have him trending toward the early rounds.”

Tai Felton’s 2024 Season Stats and Game Breakdowns

This year, Felton became the first player in Maryland’s program history to record four straight 100-yard receiving games to begin a season. As a result, Felton is among the Big Ten leaders in most receiving categories.

    Receptions: 64
    Receiving Yards:
    803
    Receiving TD: 6
    Yards Per Reception: 12.5
    Receiving Yards Per Game: 114.7

    When Is Felton Playing Next?

Felton and the Maryland Terrapains will face off at the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday, at 3:30p ET. This game will air on FS1.

The Terps will try to improve to 5-3 on the season.
