The scandal involving NaLyssa Smith has been a wild development during the 2026 WNBA season. An extremely important role player for the Las Vegas Aces, she played a key role during their run to the 2025 WNBA championship.
But this season, as she was putting together one of her stronger campaigns, DiJonai Carrington accused her of cheating on her with multiple teammates. As the reality remains unclear, Smith may have found a unique ally in a former superstar running back.
LeSean McCoy Reacts to Cheating Allegations on NaLyssa Smith
Teammates at Baylor when they first began dating in 2020, Carrington and Smith were together for nearly five years before they announced their split in 2025. At the time, after having been teammates on the Dallas Wings, they claimed it was a mutual parting of the ways.
However, fresh off the 2026 WNBA All-Star game, the Chicago Sky star had a different story to tell. Taking to Threads, she accused Smith of repeatedly cheating on her with teammates, claiming, “yes, NaLyssa cheated on me with Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye +++ many more.”
So far, Kelly and Nye haven’t offered a response to the allegations from Carrington, though Smith addressed the situation during a livestream, saying, “Whether she cheated on me or I cheated on her, why are we bringing that to the internet a year later?… That don’t even make sense. Then, to bring it to the internet a year later is crazy. Just for fun? That’s ridiculous. Especially when you’re in a happy, healthy relationship.”
2-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy broke down the entire situation on the latest episode of “Speakeasy.” Rather than blast Smith, though, he had a surprising reaction and said, “I like this because it shows these people are human.” Moreover, he believed she could help him out with a situation, too.

“I ain’t gonna lie, though, I gotta get her number, dawg,” McCoy added. “The one that was doing the cheating. Because I can trust her. And if you can mess with two people on the same team, you’ve got a lot of talent.”

As the entire crew burst into laughter, he explained, “You can also teach my young boys… The main thing should be school and sports. Anything extra is, you know. But I would have her tell my young boys how you maneuver.”
It remains to be seen if the Aces star will take him up on the offer. But for the time being, the scandal has become a major story for her and a distraction for the franchise as a whole.
But given the discrepancy in the stories between the time of the breakup and now, the truth remains unclear. However, even as most people stand against her in the situation, some, like McCoy, seem to understand her side as well.
