Super Bowl 60 wasn’t loud. It did not scream or try to convince anyone that it was historic in real time. It unfolded patiently, almost stubbornly, as if daring viewers to keep watching while points arrived in increments of three and defense refused to blink.
By the end of the night, the Seattle Seahawks were crowned champions of the 2025 NFL season with a 29-13 win over the New England Patriots, and somehow, a game so restrained carved out a surprising amount of space in the record books.
Records That the Seahawks and Patriots Broke or Tied in Super Bowl 60
On Sunday, history did not crash the party; it slipped in through the side door, sat down, and waited. If Super Bowl 60 had a recurring character, it was Jason Myers jogging onto the field. The Seahawks’ kicker set a Super Bowl record with five made field goals in a single game.
Seattle did not hesitate to take points when they were offered, and Myers rewarded that trust every time. His night also tied the Super Bowl record for most field goals attempted in a game, as well as most attempted and made by a team.
That patience showed up elsewhere, too. Both teams finished the game without a rushing touchdown, tying the Super Bowl record for fewest rushing scores by a team and by both teams combined, as if the end zone was simply closed for business.
Seattle’s discipline made history as well. The Seahawks committed zero turnovers, tying the Super Bowl record for fewest giveaways in the game’s history. They also finished without a single fumble, another record tie that showed how cleanly they played from start to finish. Nothing reckless. Nothing wasted.
On the other sideline, New England entered the record book in a more somber way. With the loss, the Patriots became the first franchise to lose six Super Bowls, according to The Boston Globe.
Special teams, often an afterthought, were incredible as well. Rashid Shaheed set a Super Bowl record with six fair catches.
Beyond the records, the game itself belonged to Seattle’s defense, also called the “Dark Side,” which showed a performance that was cold, sharp and unforgiving. Drake Maye was sacked six times for 43 yards lost and forced three turnovers. Two of those turned directly into touchdowns.
