Star-Studded Opening Ceremony Before Kickoff Spotlight

The Super Bowl 60 opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. ET. The performance will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock. The ceremony takes place roughly 30 minutes before kickoff.

Start Time and Full Pregame Schedule

The NFL has laid out a full timeline for Super Bowl Sunday programming:

  • 11 a.m. ET – Road to the Super Bowl
  • 12 p.m. ET – Super Bowl 60 Pregame Show
  • 6 p.m. ET – Super Bowl 60 Opening Ceremony
  • 6:30 p.m. ET – Kickoff (approximate)

Opening Ceremony Performer and Theme

The opening ceremony will feature Green Day, the legendary rock band from nearby Berkeley, California. The performance is designed to celebrate 60 years of Super Bowl history while honoring generations of MVPs and championship moments.

NFL events executive Tim Tubito emphasized the symbolic significance of the choice.

“Celebrating 60 years of Super Bowl history with Green Day as a hometown band, while honoring the NFL legends who’ve helped define this sport, is an incredibly powerful way to kick off Super Bowl 60,” Tubito said.

The ceremony transitions directly into pregame entertainment. Brandi Carlile will perform “America the Beautiful.” Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Charlie Puth will close the pregame musical lineup with the national anthem.

The entertainment lineup continues into halftime. Six-time Grammy winner Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show. It marks his first time leading the Super Bowl stage after previously appearing during the 2020 show alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. His selection reflects the NFL’s push toward global reach and cultural crossover moments.

Bad Bunny described the moment as bigger than personal achievement.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me,” he said in a statement.

The opening ceremony also fits into a full-day broadcast schedule. NBC programming tied to the Super Bowl begins hours earlier with pregame shows and features building toward kickoff. Streaming options span multiple platforms, including Peacock, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and more.

Historically, milestone Super Bowls often lean into nostalgia and celebration. The 60th anniversary presentation could follow that pattern. Rumors often circulate about surprise guest appearances during milestone ceremonies, though none have been officially confirmed.

For fans, the opening ceremony serves as the emotional runway. It bridges legacy and the present moment. And as the Patriots chase a post-dynasty title and the Seahawks chase a return to championship glory, the ceremony will signal that Super Bowl 60 is officially underway.
