How Many Fans Will Be Cheering in Levi’s Stadium for Super Bowl 60?

Levi’s Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers play, will be the host of the 60th Super Bowl. In 2014, the stadium opened its doors, marking the 49ers’ official move from Candlestick Park. From 1971 through 2013, the 49ers played in Candlestick Park, so this was a massive change for the franchise.

After spending $1.3 billion to build the new Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers played their first season there in 2014 and lost the opener to the Chicago Bears. Interestingly, the stadium was also built in Santa Clara, California, which is about a 50-minute drive from San Francisco.

Levi’s Stadium has a normal seating capacity of 70,000, but for Super Bowl 50, the last time it hosted the game, it expanded to almost 71,100 seats. For Super Bowl 60, this is actually not the expected amount.

According to NFL writer Ben Fisher, the Super Bowl is expected to have about 6,000 fewer seats available. The reason is the need for more space for media, security, and other things that aren’t fans. The Super Bowl requires far more personnel than regular-season games, so some of the space usually given to fans’ seats must be used.

The Matchup: New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks

With the fan capacity explained, now it’s time to focus on the game itself. The Patriots are entering this game with an MVP candidate in Drake Maye and a Coach of the Year candidate in Mike Vrabel.

Their path here was not the hardest: they had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL and faced struggling offenses throughout the playoffs, yet this team is still extremely talented and has all the potential in the world to win this game.

On the Seahawks’ side, they are as talented. Head coach Mike Macdonald is also up for Coach of the Year, and quarterback Sam Darnold has been great all season.

Seattle’s offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, is also one of the top head coaching candidates in the league and is expected to become the Las Vegas Raiders’ new head coach after the Super Bowl. His offensive play-calling will be a lot of fun to watch against the Patriots’ defense.

Time will tell who wins this game, but no matter what, it’s going to be fun.
