Stefon Diggs concluded an eventful summer when he and his girlfriend, Cardi B, announced they were expecting a child together in mid-September.
The announcement came when the Grammy-winning artist shared the news during an appearance on “CBS Mornings” with Gayle King.
How Did Cardi B and Stefon Diggs’ Relationship Begin?
For Cardi B, her child with Diggs will be her fourth, while it marks the New England Patriots receiver’s second. The rapper shares her previous three children with fellow hip-hop artist Offset.
With the multi-platinum artist taking the world by storm once again, she joined Alex Cooper on the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” where the two discussed the star-studded new relationship in detail. Cooper’s podcast is known for its laid-back energy, as she and her guests dive into various topics in an informal, conversational manner.
As the podcast host and Cardi B explored the rapper’s newest romantic endeavor, the “Bodak Yellow” singer revealed how Diggs approached her in a refreshingly different way compared to past experiences. In previous relationships, Cardi B explained that men typically approached her through various channels, including social media DMs and in-person encounters. However, when she and the Patriots’ newest receiver first connected, the dynamic felt completely different.
“It wasn’t a DM thing. I could feel the vibe that he liked me, but he never like approached me,” said Cardi B. “But I always heard he was like, he was into me, but he never approached me. He was very respectful and stuff like that.
“So, it was just this one time that I was like, ‘You have to move on. You have to move on,’ and it’s like, no matter how much times you go to the club and think that this is gonna distract you, you know what you have to do to move on.”
The mother of three continued by describing what she believed was necessary to help her move forward from her previous relationship.
“In order to move on, you have to be, you know, like getting attention from somebody,” said Cardi B. “If you’re so used to getting attention from one person, you have to get attention from somebody, because at the end of day you could party, you could club, you could work, you could job, you could get your hair done. At the end of the day, you kind of want somebody to talk to.”
Despite feeling uncertain initially, Cardi B decided to pursue her connection with the four-time Pro Bowl receiver. “You need somebody to talk to, so I asked somebody, it’s like, ‘Hey, it feels illegal,’ and we just talked,” said Cardi B. “We got to know each other. We was getting to know each other for a little bit. Not too much. We wasn’t doing too much, though. Not too much.”
As Diggs and Cardi B continue their journey, expecting their first child together, the talented performer says she feels confident about where their relationship stands after overcoming her initial nervousness during the early stages of their connection.
