Steelers Predicted To Sign 8-Time Pro Bowl WR in Free Agency for Aaron Rodgers’ Potential Last Season

The Steelers have been linked to Tyreek Hill as a free agent target to strengthen their WR corps and fuel another serious playoff run.

The Pittsburgh Steelers ended their 2025 season with a lopsided home playoff loss to the Houston Texans. The last time Aaron Rodgers threw a pass, it resulted in a pick-six in his own end zone, sparking speculation that it could be his final appearance on the field.

Mike Tomlin is no longer the head coach, Rodgers has yet to commit to playing another season before retiring, and the team has remained quiet about its quarterback plans. Regardless, the Steelers need reinforcements if they hope to make another serious playoff run. The pressure is heightened by division rival Baltimore making the offseason’s biggest move.

Tyreek Hill Linked to the Steelers to Potentially Help Aaron Rodgers

Whoever lines up at quarterback in 2026 will need reliable targets. The Steelers lack star power among their current receivers, but free agency offers several options. Tyreek Hill, in particular, is available and could be a major contributor to a long-awaited playoff push in Pittsburgh.

In PFSN’s latest free agency contract and landing spot projections by Jacob Infante, the Steelers were listed among possible destinations for Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Hill is entering free agency for the first time after being released by the Miami Dolphins. A season-ending injury sidelined him for most of 2025.

Infante wrote that at 32 years old, with declining numbers, a season-ending injury, and potential off-field concerns, Hill is a risky candidate for a multi-year contract.

“However, in the four games he played before getting hurt, Hill was on a 17-game pace for 1,127 receiving yards,” Infante added. “He was a first-team All-Pro and came in second for Offensive Player of the Year voting just in 2023. A competing team could look to lure him on a one-year deal to see if he can get them over the hump.”

Hill has the opportunity to sign with a contender and prove he can return to his Pro Bowl form. The Steelers’ defense is aging but remains competitive, and pairing it with an offense capable of moving the ball could elevate the team quickly.

Behind wide receiver DK Metcalf and tight end Pat Friermuth, the Steelers’ roster lacks notable talent. Hill’s speed and acceleration could add explosive upside, whether lined up wide, in the slot, or even in the backfield.

An acquisition of this caliber could also influence Rodgers to consider returning for another season.

In addition to the Steelers, Infante linked Hill to the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, projecting a one-year deal worth $10.1 million.
