Aaron Rodgers is officially the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. The four-time NFL MVP will report to mandatory minicamp next week after signing a one-year deal with the franchise on Thursday. It ends a two-month waiting game for the Steelers, who had been left in limbo while Rodgers weighed his options.
While many fans are excited about the veteran quarterback’s arrival, not everyone is celebrating. One fan even went viral for taking things too far, and Cameron Heyward wasn’t having it.

Cameron Heyward Claps Back At Fan Protesting Against Aaron Rodgers Signing
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers signed a one-year contract worth $13.65 million. The deal includes $10 million in guarantees and up to $5.85 million in incentives, bringing the potential total to $19.5 million.
But not every member of Steelers Nation was thrilled.
In a video posted to X, one frustrated fan burned a signed Minkah Fitzpatrick jersey and declared, “I’m officially done as a Stillers fan.”

“Well, today, June 5th, 2025, I’ll never be a Steelers fan again. Autographed Minkah jersey, I’m burning all my Steelers stuff. Yinz decide to pick up Aaron Rodgers. I can’t do this anymore,” he could be heard saying in the background.
The fan went on to point out George Pickens’ and Justin Fields’ departures. He believes the franchise is being destroyed, and since management has finally succeeded, it’s his last day as a Steelers fan.
Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward fired back some brutal shots at the fan via his X handle, saying, “Thoughts. First off, why Minkah’s jersey? That’s bonkers. Second, why burn when there plenty people that need clothes? Third, you are going to regret it!!”

Rodgers joins a crowded quarterback room that includes Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie Will Howard, who the team selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Rudolph had been operating as QB1 throughout the offseason, but that will change now.
Rodgers joined the New York Jets in 2023 after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. His first season ended in the season opener after he tore his Achilles in the fourth play. The second season didn’t go any better as the Jets finished with a 5-12 record. After contemplating for a few months as a free agent, he decided to join the Steelers for the upcoming season.
He posted 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in his one full year starting for the Jets. Rodgers finished No. 21 in PFSN’s QB+ metric last season and led the 19th-best offense, according to the Offense+ metric.
At 41 years old and entering Year 21, Rodgers isn’t a long-term answer, but he could be the bridge to Pittsburgh’s future needs. With a competitive defense, a young supporting cast, and plenty to prove, the Steelers are betting that Rodgers still has something left in the tank.
And for those fans burning jerseys?
Cam Heyward’s message is clear: Don’t jump ship just yet.
