Cam Heyward Tops Oldest Active Players on Pittsburgh Steelers Roster
When Russell Wilson left the Steelers for the New York Giants in free agency, defensive tackle Cam Heyward recaptured the crown of the team’s oldest player.
Teammates often describe Heyward as “the heartbeat” of the Steelers. “I take pride in it,” Heyward said. “But as a heartbeat, you don’t have to see me, you’ve just got to feel me.”
“You throw his age in his face, and even though he knows what you’re doing, he has to respond,” Mike Tomlin said. “That’s the competitor that man is.”
“It seems like he’s like wine and gets better with age,” T.J. Watt said.
Indeed, he does.
