‘Get a Glimpse of Greatness One Last Time’ — Steelers Legend Ben Roethlisberger Gets Candid About Aaron Rodgers’ Potential Retirement

As Aaron Rodgers prepares for what could be his final NFL season, Steelers great Ben Roethlisberger is urging fans to savor every moment.

Rodgers, 41, signed a one-year, $13.6 million deal with Pittsburgh earlier this month, making it clear that 2025 is likely his last hurrah in the league. The four-time MVP appeared on Tuesday, June 24, on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Rodgers told McAfee that he is “pretty sure” this season will mark the end of his storied 21-year career.

Ben Roethlisberger Urges NFL Fans To Get One Last Glimpse of Aaron Rodgers

Roethlisberger, who led the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles before retiring in 2021, discussed the importance of Rodgers’ potential farewell tour. During his podcast “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger,” Roethlisberger urged fans to savor the chance to watch one of the greatest players of all time, even if it’s just for a single season in the Steelers’ black and gold.

“You’re going to get to see one of the greatest of all time play one more season,” Roethlisberger said. “Every week is going to be must-see TV. Fans of football – whether at home or on the road – will be coming out because you want to get a glimpse of greatness one last time.”

Roethlisberger noted the uniqueness of Rodgers’ situation, joining a new team for what is widely expected to be a one-year stint.

“If this was Green Bay, I would think every week at Lambeau would be like, ‘How do we honor him in a different way?’” Roethlisberger said. “Maybe the Steelers will do something like that, but it would be unique.”

The former Steelers quarterback also weighed in on Rodgers’ recovery from a torn Achilles, drawing parallels to his own comeback from a major elbow injury.

“Coming off my elbow, my first year back, I felt like I was 100 percent – I wasn’t even close,” Roethlisberger said. “You don’t realize you’re not 100 until the next year when you are 100. Rodgers will feel better, but that doesn’t mean he’ll play better or that he has two or three more years left. I think this might be his last go.”

Rodgers, who passed for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with the New York Jets last season, is expected to give the Steelers a much-needed spark as they chase their first playoff win since 2016.

For Roethlisberger, the message is clear: Cherish the chance to watch a legend in action because it may not happen again with Rodgers.

“If it is it, you’re going to get everything he’s got,” Roethlisberger said. “We’ll see what he’s got in the tank. I think you’ll get a better Aaron this year than you did last year. It’s going to be cool to watch.”
