Mike Tomlin has been one of the best coaches in the NFL for the better part of two decades. Since stepping in as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he has yet to have a losing season, a record that is quickly becoming synonymous with him.
However, alongside that body of work, Tomlin has developed a personality as a steadfast and serious figure. But, as he celebrated his son’s musical success, the legendary head coach showed a human side to himself.

Mike Tomlin Turns Cheerleader for Son, Mayce
Mike Tomlin has been married to Kiya Winston, his college sweetheart, for close to 30 years. Together, they have three children – sons Dino and Mason, and daughter Harley.
Their middle child, Mason, also goes by the name of Mayce. While he initially followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a defensive back for the Columbia Lions, his career aspirations took him in a different direction.
Today, he is starting to make a name for himself in the music world, with his Mayce nickname becoming more popular by the day. Recently, he released his latest music video which the Super Bowl-winning head coach shared on his Instagram profile.
Sharing the video on his story, Tomlin added a short but sweet, “Keep bringing the [fire emoji] @maycetomlin.” The song called Wings Freestyle is the latest piece of music from the youngest son of the Tomlin family.

His focus has gradually shifted from the gridiron to the recording booth. His time playing football though wasn’t an easy one. Going into his senior year, Tomlin spoke to the New York Post about his complicated position, especially as the son of one of the best head coaches in the NFL.
“In Pittsburgh, there’s a lot of attention that comes with it. People know you’re on the team before you even get off the bus. I remember in high school as a sophomore, I would be riding the bench in basketball — I wasn’t a bench rider, I was like the seventh man — but people are chirping me and I’m playing four minutes a game, I got two points. Like why am I getting chirped?”
However, over time, he got used to the scrutiny.
“People say things to you and all that, but I grew up like that. I mean, it’s been like that my whole life. So, I’m used to it now. I actually kind of enjoy it.” But now, he’s chartering an entirely new path for himself.
However it does still follow the key rule his parents wanted him to maintain in life, “They always had a rule. You don’t have to do your thing, but you have to do something … Doesn’t matter what it is, but it better be something.”
