Free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been one of the biggest talking points of the NFL offseason thus far. The former Super Bowl champion will have a new home in the 2025 season after the New York Jets decided to move on from the 41-year-old after the 2024 season. The top contender to date has been the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Rodgers visiting the team facilities and even having a one-on-one session with new Steelers’ star wide receiver, DK Metcalf.
Amid all the rumors surrounding the controversial quarterback, Rodgers himself has been quiet most of the offseason. He broke this silence, however, on Thursday, with an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, sharing some insight on where the future Hall of Famer’s head is at just a week out from the NFL Draft.
Former Quarterback Has His Say on ‘Pop Icon’ Rodgers’ Appearance on Pat McAfee Show
In his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, Rodgers used a classic approach when it comes to talking with the media: talk a lot but actually say very little.
This was at least what former quarterback Chase Daniel thought was the case when talking on the Scoop City podcast, sharing his brutally honest thoughts on Rodgers’ appearance.

Daniel felt the appearance from the former Super Bowl MVP was a hollow one at that, feeling that Rodgers didn’t give us any new insight.
“He’s almost become like this pop icon celebrity…He didn’t say anything…talking about ‘you came on The Pat McAfee Show to say nothing.'”
Rodgers discussed in the interview the possibility of retirement, saying it was still on the table for the four-time MVP. This comment, along with others, led Daniel to believe Rodgers was only adding more uncertainty to the conversation about where he will end up.
“All this tells me is that he’s trying to capture in and control back the narrative when the Pittsburgh Steelers…they draft 21. They cannot be happy to hear these comments.”
Daniel, who played 14 seasons in the NFL, highlighted that the Steelers have the No.21 pick in the draft and that these comments by Rodgers only add more fuel to the fire in regard to what the team will do with that pick.
Daniel’s co-host, Dianna Russini, brought up the logistics of what the Steelers have already done to prepare for a Rodgers-caliber quarterback joining the team, citing the acquisition of star wide receiver DK Metcalf.
“You don’t trade for DK Metcalf and give him the contract you gave him without having hope that the quarterback is someone not Mason Rudolph.”
Rodgers has made it abundantly clear that he operates on his own time and schedule. With no team to report to and such a successful career already behind him, the former Green Bay Packer legend is riding high on life until it subsides.
