Steelers’ 7-Round Mock Draft: Pittsburgh Makes a Bold Trade and Overhauls the Offense With 78-TD QB and 32-TD RB

Steelers 7-round mock draft features a bold trade, dynamic QB with 78 TDs, and a powerful RB with 32 scores to overhaul Pittsburgh’s offense in 2025.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have never been shy about shaking things up when it comes to draft weekend, and in this 7-round mock, they go all in on revamping the offense. With quarterback still a looming question mark (thanks, Aaron Rodgers) and the run game in need of juice after losing Najee Harris to the Los Angeles Chargers, the front office makes an aggressive move to secure a dynamic dual-threat passer and a backfield weapon with a nose for the end zone.

The latest mock draft from PFSN breaks down which players make the most sense for Pittsburgh to go after, and it kicks off with a bold trade. Pittsburgh moves down for one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in this year’s draft class — a player responsible for 78 total touchdowns over his college career. Two picks later, the Steelers add a high-upside running back who found the end zone 32 times in two seasons, giving the offense a much-needed injection of speed, versatility, and playmaking potential.

Projected trade: Steelers send 21st pick to Houston Texans in exchange for 25th, 58th picks, 2026 3rd

25) Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama (via HOU)

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in an unideal situation of their own making, but if Pittsburgh is going to reach for a quarterback (again), this is the ideal scenario. Find a trade partner and acquire more capital, and take one of Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart at a more acceptable value point.

Between Milroe and Dart, Milroe has a higher grade on my board, mainly because he possesses a rare physical talent. He still needs time to refine his operational framework, but he’s a Justin Fields-level runner with a rocket arm and improving passing mechanics.

58) Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State (via HOU)

With the pick added in their Round 1 trade-down, the Steelers select Jayden Higgins as a sure-handed power-slot WR to join DK Metcalf — and hedge for a George Pickens deal.

83) Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa

Kaleb Johnson’s slide finally ends in Pittsburgh. His zone-running specialization fits well with Arthur Smith, and Johnson has the size and physicality to be a true volume back.

123) Vernon Broughton, DT, Texas

Broughton is a quick, instinctive defensive lineman with a strong first step, excellent length, and a well-developed pass-rush plan that creates value in multiple fronts. He shows good range as a tackler and flashes the ability to split double teams, but his lack of lower-body bulk and upper-body strength can limit his ability to shed blocks. While his high-energy rush style is disruptive, it can occasionally lead to balance issues and delayed reactions. He’s projected as a good backup with potential to develop into a starter.

Projected trade: Steelers receive 133rd pick; Chiefs receive WR George Pickens

133) Lathan Ransom, S, Ohio State (via KC)

Pittsburgh is not giving their best wide receiver away for peanuts, so this projection will go back into the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator where it belongs. Still, Ransom is a tough, instinctive strong safety who thrives playing downhill and brings physicality both in run support and over the middle in coverage. He’s effective against tight ends and can contribute on special teams, but his lack of burst and top-end speed may limit his effectiveness in deep coverage or against faster receivers. While he has some tackling inconsistencies, his aggressiveness and disruptive play style give him the potential to develop into an average starter.

It’s a simulated “mock draft,” Terry. … I agree, anonymous.
