Wrexham take on Chelsea in the FA Cup on Saturday, March 7, at the Racecourse Ground.
The EFL Championship side has been handed a boost, as Liam Rosenior has confirmed that four players will be missing the trip for the Premier League side.
Chelsea Without Two Attacking Players Against Wrexham
Wrexham has been dubbed the Chelsea of the lower leagues on social media after their spending spree in recent years. The EFL Championship side could be facing the Blues regularly beginning next season if they garner a promotion, but a preview of what could be coming will happen this weekend in the FA Cup.
The second-division side has a tough task on their hands this week, but it does gain an advantage from the fact Chelsea is set to be without four players. Levi Colwill and Dario Essugo are still ruled out due to their injuries, while Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens have also not recovered in time.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that the two wingers will be out of the FA Cup clash but has hinted they are close to returning soon. He said, “Estevao is back on the pitch but he’s not ready for this one. We need to be careful given it was a hamstring injury. Jamie Gittens is really close which is great. He had a positive scan. I’m delighted for him, Romeo [Lavia] will definitely play a part. He’s been itching to play but we’ve tried to build him in the best possible way.”
With the two wingers out, Rosenior is turning to his club’s academy and has called up two players to travel with the first team to Wrexham. Jesse Derry and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen are likely to get minutes this weekend after making up the numbers for the Blues for their FA Cup match.

Derry was signed from Crystal Palace last summer, and he made his debut for the club in the previous round of the FA Cup. The youngster came off the bench for Willian for the final 15 minutes against Hull City.
Kavuma-McQueen has been the most mentioned from the Chelsea academy this season, and he has been touted as the next big thing. The pacy winger was a key reason the Blues were not distraught losing Rio Ngumoha to Liverpool, and the fans could see the youngster make his debut this weekend.
Chelsea go into the game with plenty of confidence after beating Aston Villa, 4-1, during the week at Villa Park. Wrexham is on a three-match winning run and forged a 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic in their last league match.
